## Install or set up

1. Install Docker and obtain the URL and an API key for the intended Elasticsearch cluster.
2. Set `ES_URL` and `ES_API_KEY` in the environment that starts Claude Code; the container receives those variables from its host process.
3. Register the stdio container with the command below and check `/mcp`. Keep the key limited to the intended cluster.

claude mcp add elasticsearch -- docker run -i --rm -e ES_URL -e ES_API_KEY docker.elastic.co/mcp/elasticsearch stdio
```
